This weekend we’re at Road America for the Ultimate Street Car Associations Optima event. The day started at West Bend Dyno for registration and the Detroit Speed and Engineering Road Rally.  The stream of Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car competitors entered Road America, and the Lingenfelter Design and Engineering Competition judging began.  It continued while we got the opportunity to watch the NASCAR Nationwide race on the track.

Once the “real” race ended, the competitors (and ME) headed to the kart track for the D & Z Customs sponsored karting race.  12 teams competed in 80 minutes of kart racing that ended with a 4 lap sprint and what may well be remembered as “the pass in the grass” that docked the second place team a lap, into 8th place.

Tomorrow will be the three ring circus:  Autocross, Speed Stop, and Hot Laps, all at the same time! Check back for updates and more pictures throughout the next couple days.
