What a waste... on many levels. I'm so glad my taxes went to buy and destroy a perfectly useable car.

The Feds can't even run Cash for Clunkers right, I can only imagine how F'd up our healthcare would be with them running it.

I wish people would wake up from their fast food induced comas.

Waste like this make me sick to my stomach.

That video enraged the car guy within me.

Between this, and other frivolous spending programs being shoved on us and the threat of socialised health care.

When do we start the revolt and were do I sign up?

"The value of the credit for the purchase or lease of a new passenger car depends upon the difference between the combined fuel economy of the vehicle that is traded in and that of the new vehicle that is purchased or leased. If the new vehicle has a combined fuel economy that is at least 4, but less than 10, miles per gallon higher than the traded-in vehicle, the credit is $3,500. If the new vehicle has a combined fuel economy value that is at least 10 miles per gallon higher than the traded-in vehicle, the credit is $4,500."

Yeah but it's the scumbags that will take a decent idea or decent in theory and make it bad by doing things like this. People who do this are crooks IMHO.

you know I have a huge problem with this. I had no idea they went about it this way. What I think about is the families that are struggling to get by and maybe their transportation is way worse off. Couldn't they use a decent running car?

Maybe I am missing the boat. Yes it has boosted sells for ford, but why couldn't the cars be donated and used as transportation for people struggling to get by. I guess it goes hand in hand, we have some people who don't even try to help themselves where others are always trying to but are still back in a hole. (sorry, I am getting off of topic) RANT OVER!

Does this mean are metal prices will decrease? Or is there not enough clunker cars cycling to cause any significant drop in metal prices?

If I had a sh!t box that qualified, I'd be buying a new car too.

Hell, might as well get in on something I'm helping to pay for.
