I have a question regarding the stripping of the paint and what you do next. Will you sand the sheetmetal with finer grade of paper or will you just spray on fillerprimer?

My concern is, that I have seen on my Camaro that was painted 15 years ago, when the paint settles and sink in you can after a few years see the whirltracks from the sanding. This since they used very coarse papers for stripping. You can see this on a lot of cars after a few years.

If you compare factory sheetmetal it is really smooth and fine. So wouldn't it be a good idea to sand it down with something like 400 paper before you spray on the first coat of primer?

Pete,

Good luck as the adventure begins! The car is in great hands and we look forward to seeing it evolve!
99% collision.. As much as I'd like to you really can't mix the two. Every once and awhile I'll take something in if I know the person real well. My shop is very small I have five people working in a very tight place . I really have to keep the cars moving. Im having a hard time just getting my car in,and now I have a 67 GTO coming in from OREGON that we picked up off of EBAY for my nephew ! Im glad he has a four car garage!! Mines first!!!!!
Sorry for the late response!!

Not to jack the thread but I hoping to get your opinion..

That seems to be the issue with 99% of the shops here in Denver, they are all collision and don't want to take on "restoration" work.

If someone brought you a straight car in DP90 that a refigerator magnet would stick to over 99.9% of the body, would you be willing to do the final paint work? Just curious what your take on that is.

Camaro Performers magazine is working to get some of the needed parts to Pete for Tony's car. Makes for a good story and we get tech out of it.

If any car needed saving it's Tony's ... lol
