I like the town of Spearfish personally. Deadwood would keep you right in the action with casinos and plenty of lodging. When I leave Las Vegas, casinos are the last thing I want to see. LOL I'll definitely be picking up a trailer soon! I want to make some of the race events in California and AZ anyway.

Okay -- thanks! I'll look at Spearfish.

RE: TRAILER

Don't do what I did -- buy a "fancy" trailer.... I wish I'd have bought the QUALITY trailer - and .050 exterior skin - and did NOT get it all blinged out inside - that's a complete waste.

What you need is some storage up front - tools etc - and just general "stuff" that once you have a trailer - you'd like to have along.... and LOTS OF TIE DOWNS - E track...

Mine has the diamond plate floor and fancy white walls ..... I don't live in there - nobody sees it - I load the car and "stuff" and close the doors - open the doors - back out - lock it up.... plain jane interior would have been just fine -- except for the "oh wow" I get, when someone hasn't seen it before. Big Whoop. The exterior quartz lights - never used once...

Get the BIG side exit door.... I drive my stuff on and off -- I raised the floor with a couple of moveable ramps -- and open the door (using this big side opening door) and get in and out of the car... if not - you're going to climb out the window - or winch it in and out. I use the trailer like a "garage" when I'm on the road - go to a show etc - back her off - at night I drive her right back in and lock the door. If I didn't live in the Pacific NorthWET -- I might have gone with an open trailer with some storage locker / shield up front. A tilt bed most likely. I do use the trailer for some "storage" in the winters here - if I have a big project in the shed - I might store the Nomad in there. Right now - I have the new frame for the 37 Ford in there since I don't work on my stuff in the summer... it's out of the way - and easy to get in and out (using the winch) if I need to haul a real car somewhere.

If I was a big deep pocket kinda guy -- I'd have gone with a gooseneck 44' er with living quarters up front... especially for multiple day (weekend) races and stuff -- would be real nice to just pull up -- unload - crank on the A/C and make a pot of coffee like the big boys do... also not "having" to get a motel room on trips would be nice. I'd love to just pull into some truck stop or rest area and call it a night... no fuss/no hassle. Alas - the one I want is about 90K and it's just hard to justify that for the two times a year I really use it...

Just my .03's worth

BIG SIDE DOOR -- VERY HANDY!!

FANCY INSIDES -- USELESS!

Thanks!

I restored the Vette THREE TIMES -- use it - drive it sideways - tear it all down and do it all over again.... Finally drove it so much I pulled the #'s 400 hp and stuck a EFI 502 in it... would smoke those skinny little tires at 70 mph if you weren't careful!!

The Camaro is a Z/28 RS - endura bumper car.

Can't stand either one of them - too nice to cut up. It takes a real man to cut up a perfectly good car!! Got REAL TIRED of the whole NCRS boners.... and their matching wires and zinc plated nuts... Those guys all seem to have had only one car in their entire lives and it's the only thing that ever mattered... Not for me buddy... not for me.

Ditto the STOCK Camaro guys.... no thanks. 302's were/are whimpy POS no torque all RPM motors. ZERO fun around town without 4:11's... and then don't bother getting on the hiway! LOL That whole 302/4 speed/big gears thing is so "high school" (I'm old!). I like to hot rod the hell out of 'em!!!

Killer cars and trailer Greg. From my brief look, I had already decided on the side door. My motorcycle trailer is pretty decked out but I picked it up used. I need to get some dirt. I have a 3 car and RV parking but I'm splitting at the seams. I'll probably unload the motorcycle trailer in lieu of the car trailer. I don't need 3 damn trailers. The toy hauler is a great idea but I don't have the rig for that right now. The ol drives the truck so I would have to talk her into trading.

That's where I grew up. I guess I know when I will be dragging the wife and kids back to visit the grandparents.

When in August is this show? August can be a crazy time in that area with the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally during the first half of the month.

I think the show is scheduled for the weekend of the 26/28th of August... and STURGIS is the first week of August... so no overlap.

Join "us" for the show... bring Grandma and Grandpa along!! Park them at the casino... LOL

I went the last two years. Its a pretty good time. At night they always have a street concert, and the street is FULL of people. They also have 3 different poker runs during the weekend. I think this year the had a total of 750 registerd cars, and then there are probably another 300 cruising around that are not registerd.
If you guys come down, and you have a little extra time (and good brakes) I recommend taking your car down 16A (needles highway) by Mount Rushmore.

Oh yea, If you need a place to stay, check out craigslist. There are cabins you can rent close to Deadwood. My wife and I went up with 3 other couples and rented a house one block off main.
