Can anyone recommend a HID headlightkit for a 1965 mustang. Are they any good? When I first looked into this in 2004 there was like one manufacturer and it cost $1,500. Now they are like $100?? Any good? My halogens are terrible even with the 'best' bulbs. Looking to switch the taillights to leds too.
your best bet is to get the H4 conversion housings, then run a 100 watt H4 bulb setup with relays. They will be way bright enough. The drop in HID kits are generally reserved for Honda civics with body kits lol.. they are mostly for looking cool, but standard headlight housings are not designed for HID bulbs. You usually get a crappy beam pattern and angry oncoming traffic.. The other option is to retrofit OEM projectors designed for HID into the H4 7" housing. Basically you would cut out the back of the housing and custom mount the whole projection unit to the back of it. You can use Google to search if you don't know what I mean. I have done alot of headlight research in the past. I had German only headlights in a VW I had and I converted them to OEM HID projectors. It's kinda fun to do actually, and also there is a reason OEM HID stuff is $1000 and ebay has it for $99. You want good quality ballast and bulbs or they burn out and or look like crap, left and right color wont match, that sort of thing...
Awesome. thanks guys. I figured there had to be a reason no one had them. Seems like a good opportunity for a good quality premium kit for teh g-machine community.
