I know that this note is too late for the hood on this car but I had the same issue with my hood not matching the curvature of the fenders on my 68 Camaro, too. I tried the bend and twist method first and all it got me was a dented hood.

The advise I got from a restoration guru was to drill out the spot welds along the offending areas then push the sheet metal or hood frame up or down until the curvature matches. The method worked really well for me and was much easier then trying to bend and twist the whole hood. Maybe this will help someone else before he grabs the 4-lb hammer.
