The second of four stops for the Hotchkis Autocross series was in town this weekend in Fontana, CA at the NMCA Drag Race. We love this event as it draws a great crowd at a great venue – The California Speedway. This event is really gaining traction too – pun intended.
Unfortunately for us, we weren’t able to stay very long. But we did manage to get over there Saturday morning and were able to watch all the cars run at least one time. Judging by the Facebook posts of several drivers, Sunday was just as exciting as Saturday!
First off, the course itself was a long and fast one. In the parking lot that it’s held, it was almost twice the length of the last course, which presented it’s own challenges for the cars and drivers.
The field of cars was impressive. Not only did it look sold out with roughly 80 cars, the range of cars that showed to compete was impressive. There was a few first gen Camaros, to a BMW 7-Series, a pair of Lotus’, a wicked F100 truck, a few Infiniti’s, and just about everything else in between. By far this was the best turnout we had seen.
Mr. John Hotchkis himself was on the mic, telling everybody about the cars, what they ran, and calling the groups of drivers down to compete.
Our very own Chad Ryker was there in his ’68 Camaro, nabbing a win on Saturday. Take a ride with him to see how the course was:
